Research Analyst

Hercules Site Services PLC are a leading Civil Engineering and Construction firm based in a modern head office in South Cerney near Cirencester. This is an exciting time to be joining us as we continue to grow. With multiple divisions within our organisation, our capabilities include the supply of highly skilled blue- and white-collar workers, the delivery of complete civils projects, hiring out our state-of-the-art suction excavators and other plant, the delivery of construction related training and the development of innovative digital solutions for construction recruitment, workforce management and data reporting.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a Research Analyst to support our acquisition strategy and provide key insights into market trends, competitors, and potential business opportunities. This role will focus on researching acquisition targets, identifying new sectors for expansion, tracking competitors, and identifying potential new clients. The ideal candidate will have strong research and analytical skills and a keen interest in understanding market dynamics across a range of industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research to identify potential acquisition targets aligned with our strategic goals.
  • Analyse market trends and competitor activities to provide insights on potential growth opportunities.
  • Research and report on emerging sectors and markets that align with our business objectives.
  • Identify potential competitors in new sectors and conduct SWOT analyses.
  • Research and build profiles of prospective clients, detailing key contacts, business needs, and market positioning.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support decision-making in business development and strategic planning.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and summaries based on research findings for senior management.
  • Monitor industry news, reports, and data to keep the team updated on relevant developments.
  • Collaborate with the business development and strategy teams to align research outcomes with overall company objectives.
  • Support the business with adhoc research and analytics requirements as needed.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Ideally degree educated.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret data and market trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and experience with research tools or databases is a plus.
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
