To mark National Apprenticeship Week, we’re highlighting the talented apprentices growing within the Hercules business.

What got you interested in an apprenticeship at Hercules?

I was doing a work placement with Warwickshire Skills Hub at the time, who sit very close to Hercules Academy. I connected with Hercules Academy through a networking event, as I was timely looking for my next step. I was specifically looking for an apprenticeship in digital marketing, and I didn’t think university was for me.

I had a two-stage interview where I was asked to put a presentation together on how I would benefit the company within a year. For this, I mocked up some posts and created some visions of potential campaigns. And now, here I am, nearly over a year later!

What have you found the most rewarding whilst working a Hercules Academy?

Being here before it was established and seeing how far it’s come! Being involved in growing the online presence, and seeing how much busier it’s gotten is really cool.

What’s been your favourite thing about in your apprenticeship?

Going to London for workshop days, being able to get really creative and being part of apprentice-led programme. Networking with other apprentices and feeling like I have lots of autonomy, is really rewarding.

What’s been the most challenging thing?

Marketing is something that I’m confident in and passionate about, although applying that to a completely new sector has been challenging. Learning the world of construction, It’s a complex sector and it has been a steep learning curve, but also a rewarding one.

What does the future hold for Sophie?

I plan to stay with Hercules. I’ve been allowed to progress within the company and continue to nurture the business. I’ll have a more defined role as the academy continues to progress, and getting involved with a few new things and continuing to learn how I can support Hercules Academy in other ways.

What are your hobbies in your spare time?

I’m a social butterfly and love spending with friends and going to festivals. I also love to travel! My last holiday was in Denmark around Christmas which was magical. I’m also really into movies, I love Sci-Fi!
